Introductory Session
Eager to cultivate creative thinking in your school?
AFTEC is here to help!
AFTEC Jockey Club Creative Futures Project is a student-centered creative learning scheme designed to provide a system-led approach to creative thinking in education institutions from tertiary to primary. Based on the hugely successful pilot Jockey Club Arts-based Cross Curriculum Creative Learning Project (2021 – 24), AFTEC is now recruiting new primary and junior secondary schools to join the second cohort for 2025 – 28. Together with creative practitioners, teachers will co-design and co-teach arts-based cross curriculum creative learning programmes in schools, leveraging the arts to nurture students’ generic life skills – Creativity, Critical thinking, Communication and Collaboration.

This Introductory Session is intended for schools interested in becoming one of the Creative Schools in the coming three years. It will offer a comprehensive overview of the programme, helping schools understand how the initiative can foster the growth of both teachers and students. The selection process and key dates will be announced during the session. Save the date if you are eager to become one of Hong Kong’s pioneers in creative learning.

Speakers

Ms Lynn Yau
In the past two decades, Lynn’s keen interest in the inter-connection and correlation between the arts and education has driven her to build an AFTEC “action research” portfolio on the merging and interaction of the two fields, testing findings and strategies in diverse settings. She is focused on tapping into the innate powers of the arts to open windows for creative teaching and learning opportunities in disciplines other than the arts, from language to social work and the medical humanities.
Lynn is a Hong Kong Scholar to the Clore Leadership Programme 2010 – 11, and was commended by the Chief Executive in 2022 for her outstanding contribution to arts education. She is keen on research and presented papers in Hong Kong, Penang, Brisbane and London. She is the co-author, alongside Professor Robin Pascoe, for a chapter in The Palgrave Handbook of Global Arts Education in 2017.
She is passionate about training the trainers and working with young people.

Ms Jenny Ng
Ms Jenny Ng is a dedicated education professional with over 30 years of frontline teaching experience in primary and secondary schools. She also served as a School Development Officer under the Quality School Improvement Project (QSIP) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong for many years, assisting schools in planning for improvement and teacher training.
Ms Ng has more than 10 years of experience as a vice principal in primary school, with rich experience in school management, student support, developing school-based curriculum, and promoting teacher professional development.
She joined The Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC) in August 2024 as the Director of Teaching and Learning. Through her dedication to education, she continues to create an enriching learning environment with the team for creativity to thrive and grow in students and teachers.
